Glenn Barr

Glenn Barr is one of Detroit's most celebrated and successful underground artists.

A graduate of the College For Creative Studies in Detroit he has made the city his home base.

Working out of the city's burgeoning lowbrow art movement, Barr presents views of the urban landscape as a post-industrial wasteland where angels and devils alike share the same urban playground. With a nod to pulp art and cartooning, Barr's paintings are mesmerizing in both their simplicity and depth.

Glenn’s paintings have appeared in galleries around the world and his work has been featured in a variety of comics and graphic novels including Mad, DC Comics and Paradox Press.

Barr's contribution to animation include background styling for The Ren and Stimpy Show, Bjork's ‘I Miss You’ video and The New Woody Woodpecker Show while his paintings have been featured in Juxtapoz, Film Threat and Juxtapoz Erotica.

Defying the trend toward decorative art, Glenn Barr creates strangely voyeuristic imagery that confronts rather than conforms. As one critic penned, "Barr's work is the visual equivalent of a David Lynch film."
