The Pizz

Known as The Lord of Lowbrow, The Pizz is self-taught, self-employed and self-destructive. Known primarily as a painter, Pizz took a self-imposed break from daubing to explore other media, such as magazine illustration, TV commercial design work, and computer animation.

The Pizz is an artistic deviant byproduct of the baby boom era of the late 1950's. A high school dropout, The Pizz honed his lowbrow art skills under the tutelage of Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth who hired him to produce high octane designs for Roth Studios. Although the Pizz's work was signed by Roth,  the sneaky Pizz began hiding his distinctive PIZZ signature within the art itself.

The Pizz has designed products ranging from vinly toys to ceramic tiki drink ware. His vehicle designs have been featured on several episodes of Discovery Channel's Monster Garage, and past commercial clients include Warner Bros, Sony, Peugeot Europe, BBC, and Elan.

Recognised by gallerists around the world. The Pizz has exhibited at galleries and museums from Los Angeles to Paris with is work hanging in major collectiopns. A favourite of the celebrity set, his work can be found in the homes of the rich and famous including Jesse James, Pink, Long Gone John, George DiCaprio, Anthony Kiedis, Penelope Spheeris, Sophia Copploa, Doug Fieger, and Carey Harl.

The two images below were featured in the seminal art book Pop Surrealism.
